PeopleThis is a group for young people, ages of 8-18, from Ithaca, surrounding towns, and the entire Finger Lakes region. Members participate in parades, historical events, and community events. Our young musicians are taught to play fifes, snare drums, or bass drums. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. We teach you everything necessary including how to read music.
All members participate in events and performances. Newer members will participate in the Color Guard at events until they have learned a basic repertoire. |
LessonsWe meet year-round for weekly music lessons and marching practice on Thursday evenings, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m., in downtown Ithaca at VFW Post 961, 423 West State Street. (Across from the State Diner.)
Members are expected to attend lessons on a regular basis and to practice their instruments at home. Members are welcome to join throughout the year. |
EventsClick here for this year's EVENT LIST.
We march in parades, historical events, and ceremonies in the greater Ithaca/Finger Lakes region. We’ve already connected with our fife and drum corps friends to the north of us! In addition, each year we will plan a larger trip to a special place. As the corps grows, becomes larger and more experienced, you will be amazed at the invitations your child will receive as a member of a fife and drum corps. |
CostDo not let costs keep you from joining. For families who can afford it, monthly dues are $25.00 for one child or $40.00 for a family of two or more children. We have reduced fees or no fees when needed due to family circumstances.
Dues cover weekly lessons, instruments, and uniforms, except for shoes. Beginners will need to purchase an inexpensive starter fife or drum sticks and practice pads. Occasionally, there are some personal costs associated with event travel (gas, hotel/camping, food). As a non-profit, we strive to keep costs as low as possible. |
